Our Mission: Restoring Dignity, Hope, and Comfort
Imagine being a child suddenly separated from your parents, your home, and everything familiar to you. You are frightened, confused, and unsure of what will happen next. You may have already experienced abuse, neglect, abandonment, or homelessness—and now you are entering foster care carrying nothing but fear.
Now imagine that the few belongings you do have are placed inside a trash bag.
For a child who has already experienced trauma, this can send a heartbreaking message: You don't matter. Your belongings don't matter. You are disposable.
No child should ever have to feel that way.
Children entering foster care deserve to know that they have value. They deserve dignity, comfort, and the reassurance that someone cares about what happens to them.
Our mission is to change that experience.
Through our donors' generosity, we provide children entering foster care with a new duffel bag filled with comforting belongings—items they can call their own and take with them as they begin this difficult new chapter.
A bag may seem like a simple gift, but to a frightened child, it can mean so much more.
It says:
“You matter.”
“You are not forgotten.”
“You deserve something of your own.”
“Someone cares about you.”
Our goal is to help ensure that no child entering foster care has to carry their belongings in a trash bag. Instead, they can carry a bag filled with dignity, comfort, hope, and the knowledge that someone believes they deserve a better tomorrow.
Together, we can replace a trash bag with a bag of hope—and remind every child that they are worthy of love, dignity, and a fresh beginning.
